The OpenECU family of field-ready electronic control units (ECUs) from Pi Innovo offers an open platform to rapidly develop robust control system solutions for engine, powertrain, chassis, and other applications. This system offers all the advantages of traditional rapid prototyping, but with an open development environment that allows the use of native Simulink models from prototype to production using hardware that meets full-production environmental and packaging requirements.

The code generator automatically produces royalty-free C code from Simulink models. The build process, from the user issuing a "Build" command to the generation of an executable object, is completely automated. The OpenECU modules fully support calibration data mapped to RAM for integration with industry standard on-the-fly calibration tools.

Typical end users include OEMs, tier 1 suppliers, powertrain and chassis system designers, component suppliers, and research establishments. A range of tested OpenECU control strategies for spark or compression ignition engine control and exhaust gas aftertreatment applications are also available. These are defined as a set of base-level, proven Simulink subsystems, which enable developers to concentrate on the strategy features specific to their application.  Pi Innovo also offers comprehensive support and consultancy services, including systems engineering, software development, electronics hardware design / development, and process development.
