Robust Design Optimization (RDO) using CAE-based multiobjective and multidisciplinary optimization and stochastic analysis has increasingly become a key component in virtual product development. optiSLang is an efficient software tool for CAE-based sensitivity analysis, optimization, and robustness evaluation. The Metamodel of Optimal Prognosis (MOP) and the coefficient of prognosis (CoP) are algorithms for solving RDO tasks. The CoP/MoP approach provides automatic variable reduction and verification of the forecast quality with a minimum of solver calls. optiSLang helps to quantify risk, identify optimization potentials, and adjust safety margins without the limitation of input parameters.
The MATLAB® and Simulink® connection node, released with optiSLang 4 provides access to the simulation process' input parameters and responses using a native binary interface that does not rely on files for most interprocess communication. As a result, the user can connect an already running instance or can create a new instance of MATLAB and Simulink based on a given MATLAB or Simulink project. Once the connection is established, a parameter/response overview of the current MATLAB or Simulink instance is presented to define the analysis parameterization scope in optiSLang 4. While performing the analysis, optiSLang varies the simulation input and evaluates the output sequentially or in parallel until the convergence criteria are fulfilled. The analysis aims to determine optimized, robust, or reliable designs, and to automatically detect the importance of parameters or to build metamodels.
