This book presents the fundamental numerical techniques used in engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, and the physical and life sciences to undergraduate and beginning graduate students. General areas covered in this book include solving linear and nonlinear equations, numerical linear algebra, numerical methods for data interpolation and approximation, numerical differentiation and integration, and numerical techniques for solving differential equations. Each chapter begins with an overview of the subject matter along with introductory examples. A MATLAB function is presented for each method. A discussion of theoretical considerations and a brief discussion of relevant MATLAB built-in functions are placed at the conclusion of each section.
