  1. Do you have a quick introduction to get me started programming with MATLAB?

    Yes. MATLAB Onramp is a free two-hour, self-paced, interactive course that allows new users to learn MATLAB. With MATLAB Onramp, users gain confidence, become comfortable with the MATLAB environment, and acquire the basic skills needed to use MATLAB. This course uses adult learning principles: presentation, practice, and test. Regular quizzes test your knowledge and provide immediate feedback. You'll receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

  2. How can I learn to use MATLAB during my trial?

    MATLAB Onramp is a free two-hour, self-paced, interactive course that allows new users to learn how to use MATLAB effectively. With MATLAB Onramp users gain confidence, become comfortable with the MATLAB environment, and gain the basic skills needed to use MATLAB. If you need more in-depth MATLAB training, MathWorks offers four additional self-paced courses through MATLAB Academy. Ranging from 7 to 21 hours of content, courses include specialized application areas such as financial applications and data processing and visualization, as well as in-depth MATLAB programming.

  4. I'm a professor – can I use MATLAB in my class?

    Yes. MATLAB is used extensively in educational settings throughout the world. You can get a free trial or see if your school already offers a MATLAB campus license. To learn MATLAB, you and your students can use the free MATLAB Onramp course. In addition, Cody Coursework lets you create and autograde MATLAB coding assignments.

  5. What is trial software?

    Trials allow you to evaluate MathWorks products, at no cost, for a limited time.

  6. Who is eligible to receive a trial?

    All commercial and educational customers, including students, are eligible to receive a trial of professional versions of MathWorks products.

  7. I am a professor; how can I get a trial of MATLAB student-use software?

    If you are a professor thinking of requiring or recommending MATLAB student-use software to your students, you can get a free trial. You can also contact your MathWorks account manager for assistance.

  8. How do I receive a trial version of MathWorks products?

    If you are a licensed user of a professional version of MATLAB and you have an up-to-date subscription to MathWorks Software Maintenance Service, you can download a trial version of most MathWorks products, including earlier releases, from the MathWorks website. You can customize which products to trial.

    If you are a new MATLAB user, complete the request trial software form.  You can request that a sales representative contact you about trying MathWorks products, if you need additional assistance. We can help you select products for your specific needs and ensure that you'll be able to effectively use your trial software.

  9. Will I be contacted by a sales representative when I evaluate products?

    Depending on the trial type, a sales representative might have to contact you to discuss configuration issues prior to sending the trial version passcode to unlock your software. Since the products you are requesting to evaluate are sophisticated software packages, a sales representative may call during your trial period to check on your success and to help with configuration or questions you may have.

  10. What do I do if I want to evaluate a product that isn't on the list?

    Check System Requirements and Platform Availability by Product to see the products supported on your platforms. If a product is not on the list, it may mean that the product is not offered on the platform you need or not available for download. Contact sales for more information on these products.

  11. How do I extend my trial period on a product?

    To request an extension of your trial period for a product, contact sales.

    The trial period is 30 days.

  12. I need to evaluate additional products, but am getting a message that my URL has already been activated.

    To request an additional URL to try more products, complete the request trial software form or contact sales.

  13. Can I evaluate the same product on multiple platform/OS combinations?

    Yes, you can trial products on any and all supported platform/OS combinations.

  14. What should I do if I don't think my trial software downloaded properly?

    Contact Installation Support.

  15. Can I use any version of MATLAB with the trial versions of toolboxes that are available to download?

    For your evaluation to work properly, please check to make sure you are evaluating products within the same release.
