Description

World Tides is a general purpose program for the analysis and prediction of tides. Using least squares harmonic analysis, it allows the user to decompose a water level record into its tidal and non-tidal components by fitting between 5 and 35 user-selectable tidal frequencies (tidal harmonic constituents). The constituents can then be saved to allow future prediction of tides. Non-tidal water level displayed in graphs provide a complete depiction of storm surge and storm tide (storm surge plus astronomic tide) during tropical and extratropical events.

A very slick application. Well developed. One problem with it though is that for analysis you can only read in *.xls files... This limits you to 65536 hourly records, which is not enough for proper tidal analysis (need ~19 years). Would be preferred if you could pull variables from the workspace, then you could perform the tidal analysis using a longer time series of data. Well put-together though, and very user-friendly.

Very nice and user friendly application. But I wonder myself if it is possible to get the actual values somewhere, not only the graphs.

Thank you for this program, I hope that will help me learn how to program for predicting the tidal in different regions according to the study
