Description

In this work a computer application called AKUZOFT has been designed and implemented
with the final aim of modeling sound transmission loss of some acoustic problems.
AKUZOFT has been implemented into computers codes using MATLAB through a userfriendly
graphic interface.
AKUZOFT includes three modules: WALLS, MUFFLERS, and SPLITTER.
Module WALLS is used for the designing and calculating the sound transmission loss of
panels and partitions of construction, module MUFFLERS is used for the designing and
calculation of transmission loss of reactive silencers such as simple expansion chamber,
expansion chamber having extended tube at the inlet and expansion chambers with
concentric tube resonators. In adittion, the module allows one to calculate transmission loss
of combination of these expansion chambers. Finally, module SPLITTER is used for
designing and calculating transmission loss of splitter silencer. This module includes the
pressure loss through the silencer caused by the presence of a mean flow.
The predicted values have been validated against experimental and numerical results
reported in the technical literature.
