| Description |
This is a demo of root-finding using Newton’s Method. The user can enter an arbitrary function, along with an initial guess, and then each successive interation of Newton’s method is shown. In addition to simply entering the initial guess with the keyboard, the initial guess may be dragged around using the mouse, and the resulting graph will update dynamically. This provides a unique and compelling way to understand the important relationship between the initial guess and the outcome of the root-finding procedure. |
