Was this not done to Standard Specs and Refs in the CSIRO Sea-Mat Toolbox? Why do it differently here?
ftp://ftp.marine.csiro.au/pub/morgan/seawater/ver2_0_1/sw_svel.m
Or in the Oceans Toolbox

Thank you for your thoughtful collaboration David.
The answer is self-evident from your comment- I did this function because I did NOT found such a file in the MATLAB Central File Exchange and as a continuation of my sound speed in distilled water function. I have no doubt in my mind, that thousands of people had used Mackenzie equation to calculate sound speed way before I posted this function and some of them even did use Matlab for that. There is no claim of originality here, as you may easily see from my reference to the publication. And since yourself listed TWO sources in your comment, there is no exclusivity in use of Mackenzie equation either. Or did you berate Australian guys for repeating WHOI?s work as well?

As for your low marks for that function, I?m not sure how to treat it. Was it because function did not work as advertised? Or you did not like the implementation?

Steven, before submitting your comment, it would be nice if you could read carefully the ?Guidelines for Reviewing a Submission?. It says, for example, ?..When providing feedback

on a submission, please do the following:
Be considerate of the author and other customers reading your comments......
Provide specific information on what you like and dislike about the submission.
Use examples to illustrate your point....?

Well documented function.

Little investigation showed that two commentators- David Ciochetto and Steven Kay is the same person. I wish his professors would show him value of honesty BEFORE he start his science career. As for his original point- sure, there are lots of interesting stuff being hidden away on ftp cites. The problem is to find something there

Well documented function and easy to use. Thanks for taking the time to post and share with the community. Your code definitely saved me time, allowing me to spend more time researching and less time writing or searching for code. Thanks!
