Everything You Wanted to Know about Simulink but Were Afraid to Ask

Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 11 am PST

Do you work with Simulink models but wish you had a better understanding of the tool's fundamentals? Do you wonder why colleagues are using the simulation platform in the first place and want a clearer picture of its benefits/typical use cases? If so, then this session is for you. We'll explore the philosophy behind Simulink such that attendees will attain a clear picture of when to use the software. We will introduce and reinforce key modeling concepts such that attendees will be better able to build, modify, execute, and analyze simulations.

Highlights include:

  • Simulink use cases
  • Simulink modeling fundamentals
  • Simulink add-on capabilities
  • Extended Q&A session

Are you getting the most out of MATLAB®, or are you still using it just the way you were taught your first year in university? With over 2,000 people working year-round to design, build, test, and document MathWorks products, it is a safe bet that there are more than a few useful features you don't know.

This fast-paced talk will introduce at least 21 features you can start using today to make your use of MATLAB more efficient, more effective, and more fun. Some features will be very new, while others may be 5, 10, or maybe even more than 15 years old. How many of them will be new to you?

Introduction to Simscape for Modeling Multidomain Physical Systems

Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 11 am PST

In this session you will learn the basics of simulating physical systems in Simscape. The physical network approach in Simscape enables you to model physical systems by simply assembling a schematic of physical components. You can tailor level of model fidelity to match your engineering task, which makes your development process more efficient.

Highlights include:

  • Modeling running robot with electric, mechanical, and multibody components
  • Estimating motor parameters
  • Target applications for Simscape
  • How to get started modeling physical systems

Image Processing Made Easy Using MATLAB

Friday, January 22, 2021 at 11 am PST

Image processing is the foundation for building vision-based systems based on cameras and frame grabbers. You might have a new idea for using your camera in the fields of engineering, sciences, biomedical, or oceanography for example, and are not sure where to start. In this session, we will focus on several key workflows to make things easy and help get you started.

We will use real-world examples to focus on:

  • Pre-processing images using enhancement and filtering techniques
  • Separating objects of interest using segmentation techniques
  • Testing your algorithm on large sets of images

Some highlights include:

  • MATLAB help documentation and examples help with getting started quickly
  • Interactive apps and live scripts enable exploration of different techniques
  • Extensive library of built-in image processing algorithms
