Are you an experienced editor with an eye for detail? A technical editor with a deep appreciation for sound writing? Candidates for this position will have the ability to bring out the best in technical topics and the writers who develop them.

In this role, you’ll edit MathWorks documentation, learn about our software products, and test procedures to inform your edits. You will also work across product families to manage terminology, and coordinate with other editors to influence the quality of the documentation.

Responsibilities

Play a significant role in the development of customer-facing information:

  • Perform developmental, technical, and copy editing on a large volume of product documentation for a global audience.

  • Give feedback on entire products: web pages, context-sensitive help, error messages, and user interfaces.

  • Run the software, test procedures, and examine examples to inform your edits.

  • Collaborate with writers to improve the clarity, conciseness, and consistency of content.

  • Develop and communicate style guidelines, writing standards, and editorial processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience) is required.

  • Strong editing skills with a focus on understanding technical content, editing for organization and flow, and adding value to the usability of the documentation

  • Ability to adopt the perspective of and advocate for the customer

  • Ability to give explicit and constructive feedback effectively, with rationale

  • Ability to juggle priorities and adapt editorial effort to meet deadlines

  • Attention to detail, language, grammar, and standards
