Zynq Intelligent Drives Kit from Avnet

The Xilinx® Zynq®- 7000 AP SoC Intelligent Drives kit from Avnet® is a hardware/software platform for developing custom motor control algorithms targeted to the Xilinx Zynq-7000 All-Programmable SoC. This kit is designed for use with a Simulink® hardware/software workflow that supports C code generation for the ARM® Cortex-A9 core. It uses Embedded Coder® and HDL code generation with HDL Coder™ to produce IP cores that accelerate time-critical functions in the Zynq’s programmable fabric.

The Avnet kit includes a ZedBoard baseboard, an Analog Devices® AD-FMCMOTCON1-EBZ FMC module for motor control, and a 24 V, 4000 RPM brushless DC motor for use in prototyping. The kit also includes a voucher for Xilinx Vivado™ Design Edition. The kit’s hardware may be used with stepper, brushed DC, and permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM).

Two Simulink motor control models supporting C and HDL code generation are available from MathWorks:

  • A trapezoidal motor control model for targeting the Zynq Intelligent Drives Kit
  • A field-oriented control model that generates algorithmic C and HDL code

Other options for the Zynq Intelligent Drives Kit available from Avnet include a dynamometer electronic test load and a MathWorks Motor Control Design package.
