how can I generate an analog composite video signal out of a digital video file

Hi,

Can somebody show me how can I get an analog video from a digitally encoded video file, like .avi/.mpg etc.

If you have a card in your computer with a composite video output jack, then it probably comes with software that can play a file and send the output to the jack.

Hi thanks for the reply, but what i really want is to have some software implementation using matlab/simulink etc. to generate the analog video signal of specific type out of a digital video file.

MATLAB itself cannot generate analog signals. MATLAB can send digital signals to devices that generate analog signals in response. For more complex analog signals, MATLAB may have to be connected to a waveform generator.

Simulink can be used to simulate analog signals, but it has the same limitations on actually creating them.
