swaping input and output of ARMAX model

Hi, I am trying to find an answer to following question: what would in theory happen if I swap input and output of my ARMAX model? Would you expect the model to have the same performance? How would you expect the structure of the model to influence above? I will be grateful for some comments and links to relevant reading.
