Coding in Matlab for ArcGIS general Questions

Hi,

I'm considering using Matlab to develop some small apps for ArcGIS. I've read the Matlab Toolbox outline and it looks promising. Can someone pls comment how hard is it to use Matlab with ArcGIS? I'm trying to judge of using Matlab or Python . . . ( I know Matlab better than Python . . .)

Is it possible to use Matlab Code as a ArcGIS plug-in?

I'm looking into connecting directly to the ArcGIS server, process the data and save it back to the Server.

Can someone recommend good reading material for ArcGIS + Matlab or maybe Matlab Mapping Toolbox etc.
