How can I overlay an image on a 2-d graph based on the coordinate system of the parent plot (not normalized position)?

I am trying to overlay several images on specific location on a plot based on the x-axis values of the parent axes? If I use axes it puts them in a fixed position relative to the figure window and stays there if you zoom in or out or move the parent axis. Thanks for the help
