"External Mode Open Protocol Connect command failed"

When transfering a model to my external PC, i get the following error message in Simulink: "External Mode Open Protocol Connect command failed"

I tried increasing the wait time to 30 seconds using the following command, but with no effect: tg.set('CommunicationTimeOut',30)

Running 'slrttest' in MATLAB reveals no errors regarding connection or downloading the example-model to the target PC.

What is the issue here

Did you ever find the problem for this symptom? I get a warning in an Error window saying that it couldn't find in information file, but I don't know what that refers to. It says that a common problem is that the Rebuild option in the Configuration Parameters is set to Never. That's not the case for me. Any suggestions for me?
