Why doesn't Matlab R2008b recognize X11 running in Yosemite?

Trying to run matlab in Yosemite. Installed Quartz but still get error saying X11 not installed.

Possibly because it was made about 6 years before Yosemite was introduced so that antique version of MATLAB never knew what was going to be in Yosemite. Upgrade to R2014b.
