Matlab R2015a crashes when changing folders under OS X

Matlab crashes every time I try to change folders using the GUI. Had this problem sometimes with 2014b, but now it has completely stopped working for me. I'm running Matlab on a Mac with OS X 10.10. Any tips would be very welcome.

Further digging into this, it seems to crash only when the folder I'm switching to contains Matlab files.

When you say "change folders using the GUI", what does that mean?

Similar issue here. I have OX Yosemite, Matlab R2015a. When I navigate to one of my project folders under Documents, Matlab simply freezes. I don't eve get a crash report.

Changing folders with the GUI means using the current folder view in Matlab or the path field of Matlab. In the meantime, I also get this problem when using the command line and the cd command. I can't even circumvene the problem by starting Matlab as root anymore. This is really annoying. Mathworks, get your java-s**t fixed or academics will keep abandoning Matlab and start using Python more and more.

Okay, some workaround: Calling

sh /Applications/MATLAB_R2015a.app/bin/matlab -nodesktop

Gave me access to the desktopless version. I can now cd to anywhere I want. What I didn't know is that I'm also able to start simulink and make plots from the command-line only interface. Still Mathworks, get your s**t fixed.
