Divide a picture to 2*2, 3*3 and 4*4 blocks

I want to divide the pictures of faces databases into blocks, the picture are colored than i will use the OCLBP on each block, when I divide the image into blocks, the subimages are grey images not colored I cannot use the OCLBP on each block since the OCLBP depends on the color channels
