ginput Counter or Alternate Colors

Hello All, Is there a way to display a counter for the number or ginput mouse clicks on the image as you are making the inputs? If that is not possible, can you alternate ginput marker colors? I want to make sure to make an even number of mouse clicks for my image.

Grab http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/38703-custom-ginput or similar. In the code there edit updatePoints() to display the current number of points in some manner convenient to you.
