How can you cut parts out of a PDF document with Matlab?

Dear community, I want to use Matlab to open all PDF documents within a folder, cut them into three parts (top, middle, bottom) and save these under new file names. However, so far I didn't even succeed in opening a single PDF in Matlab. Is there a possibility? Best regards, Polis
