Error while obtaining sizes from MEX S-function 'CommunicationsDLL'

Hello,
I am a new to MATLAB with little knowledge of programming. I am trying to run a MATLAB based software. The software was created in the year 2004 on a old version. I am currently using R2015b Windows 32 bit version.
While running the simulink, i get a block error saying
Error while obtaining sizes from MEX S-function 'CommunicationsDLL'
Caused by:
Invalid MEX-file
The specified procedure could not be found
I have the makefile for this software. I was told to recompile the DLL file. But i have no idea how to do that. Could anyone please help?
