Menu Bar MATLAB IDE ¿invisible or unavailable?

Recently installed R2017a on win7 x64. Main IDE window does not display a menubar.(Figure windows do however)
¿Has it been removed or is there a 'Visible' property somewhere set to false/0/'off'?
No luck so far with various solutions @ http://au.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/newsreader/view_thread/285209.

You can try FEX: CmdWinTool, but actually the problem should not appear after the installation. Did you have an old preferences folder? See:
dir(prefdir)
Try to uninstall Matlab, rename this folder and re-install Matlab again.

Thanks Jan! I'm sorry for the belated feedback. The underlying windows+MATLAB requirement evaporated before I could try your suggestions. Thanks again.
