In Simscape, Power System, using the Two-Quadrant DC/DC Converter and the Half-Bridge Converter in Average Mode is not producing expected results

I'm trying to simulate a large system with multiple DC/DC converters so I am using the Averaging Mode on all of my converters. I would like to ideally like to use the Half-Bridge Converter as in its averaging mode as it uses a voltage reference but am only getting the input voltage out from it, no matter what I put in as the reference voltage (either lower or higher than input reference), I only get the reference voltage, the voltage that I am putting into the +/- terminals, out. I have two questions about the Half Bridge Converter block, first what do I need to do to get the Half Bridge Converter to match the input reference, second, is the Half Bridge Converter bidirectional or do I need to use the next block that I have question about?
I have had slightly more success with the Two-Quadrant DC/DC Converter. With this I have been able to input an average D signal and output a lower voltage but have not been able to output a higher voltage. Is this converter Buck/Boost so that I should be able to get a higher voltage out? if so what is the D that I need to input, I have tried numbers above and below 1?
Thank you

The Average-Value DC-DC Converter can be used as a Buck, Boost, or Buck-Boost converter by setting the 'Converter type' dropdown to the coresponding mode. The relationship between duty cycle and voltage/current is given in the doc page. Please note that this block is not bidirectional.
