How to detect tone embedded in speech ?!

 how to detect  tone from speech signal using matlab ??? how to ???? is it the same as DTMF detection ?!! help plz !!

Take the FFT, look for the 2 or 3 biggest spikes and erase them. Then inverse FFT. Attach your signal if you need more help. Also say if you know the frequency of the tones. That may make it easier.

Thanks man really i'm gettin' the whole picture now but the signal could be any piano music and the frequencies are anything yo assign (by choice) if you could help me then you are doing me a big favor :) seriously and thanks again man for ur fast response

If your "tone" is really not monochromatic tones but almost anything that doesn't really sound like the other sound in the audio ( cocktail party effect ) , then you need to use Blind Source Separation (BSS). You can use Independent Components Analysis, ICA. See links below:

What if i could use monochromatic sound ?!! What exactly are the steps i'd go thru to implement that in matlab because i dont wanna make things complex and as i told you i am allowed to use any kind of speech or audio signal ! Besides theses great stuff you mentioned (BSS,ICA) i am hearing them for the first time and havent even passed by them before :(

If they are, then you use my original answer. Find, or know, the frequencies where it occurs, zero them out, and inverse transform.

What a pain. So I went to the third party web site and downloaded the zip and found inside another compressed file. Not an audio file but a .rar file. So I tried to open that rar file in a variety of ways (3 different programs) and was not successful so I gave up. Please make it easy for people to help you. Attach a standard audio format file in a standard zip file (not double compressed in some proprietary format on a third party web site) right here on your message with the paper clip icon.
