Live Script incapable of plots

Hi, I'm using MATLAB 2016a at work. I wanted to use Live Script to make teaching materials; it seemed like a good idea. Right off the bat, when I put in f = figure, there was a complaint about openGL. I followed the link to the help page and did what seemed appropriate (chose the hardware-acceleration option). Even though the messages went away, Live Script still does not create figures, inside or outside. I see that other people's Live Script documents have plots in them. (In fact, wasn't that the main point?) What gives? Thanks
