Can not display image after re-parenting axes.

After I move an axes control to another figure (by changing parent), I can not display data using the image function. Plotting, resetting axis, changing background color, all work, just not image(). When I look at the axes properties I see that the data (CData) gets stored. It just doesn't display. When I give the axes it's original parent, the data is displayed.
