How to use a handle to define a piecewise binary function that can express the definition of the following expression

function zfunction=name(q,z)
if q=0;
zfunction=(n0^(1/2)*cosh(m0*z));
else
zfunction=(nq^(1/2)*cos(mq*z));
end
