Does Image Acquisition Toolbox support still image acquisition from digital SLR cameras or consumer digital cameras (such as Canon, Nikon, etc.)?

Some digital camera models support image acquisition and computer control via an USB connection by using a vendor provided software application or via a vendor provided driver interface / SDK.

As of MATLAB R2023b, there is no direct support in Image Acquisition Toolbox for digital SLR cameras.

As a possible workaround for, one could use the MATLAB external interfaces functionality (such as LOADLIBRARY/CALLLIB or MEX to interface with a camera vendor SDK).
