daq toolbox with national instruments digital outputs

I'm using Matlab with NI Digital IO lines. If I create a session with, say 4 digital output channels, how can I perform outputSingleScan on only one channel and ignore the others? This is possible on the legacy code, but I don't see anything discussing this with session based interface.

If I understand correctly, the approved method is to create different sessions for each grouping that needs to be controlled (or ignored) together.
