To follow it, however, it shows: Error 5 running commend .bin\win64\setup,exe after clicking either Matlab R2018a, or R2017b (same error message for R2019b and R2020a as well). For more background information: my laptop has a System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32. Is that the reason?

You can find the solution from here.
Please check you're using 64bit Windows OS. In case 32bit Windows OS, R2015b was is the last version which supported 32bit.
If the OS is 64bit, it might be another reason. In that case, please run setup as admin after all installer files are extracted.
It seems that R2015b is workable- for 32bit Windows OS, at least be allowed to be installed. Thanks.
However, Error 9 appears. Could be associated with the installation of R2015b updated package. I'll contact my administrator for the active licence path (user name or key).
For License error 9, you can find possible solutions from the following answer.
Many thanks, Kojiro.
It may be releated to username in the license file. Will contac my computer's administrator to fix it. Matlab makes a simple issue complicated.
