Riemann Sum Approximations

Goal: Calculate the different approximations computed by the left, right, lower, and upper Riemann sum.

This is a live script that shows some mathematical concepts of numerical integration. This file contains five sections: left, right, lower and upper Riemann sum, and a final section with the true integral calculated by using the Matlab function integral.

This live script can be used as part of a lecture or as an assignment to be completed outside of class, where the student can introduce and visualize the numerical aproximations of the integral of some functions of interest.
