Measure Adult, Live, Mouse Cardiomyocyte Dimensions
Version 1.0.0 (11.1 KB) by
Meredith Kinsell
Automatically measures cardiomyocyte length, width, and area from multiple images with cell selection depending on pre-defined criteria.
This script needs to be used in conjunction with measure_LWA_1 and measure_LWA_2 function files.
This script automatically measures cardiomyocytes from multiple images and excludes cells with pre-defined cell selection criteria. The code was developed using confocal microscopy images of adult mouse cardiomyocytes and it measures cell length, width, and area. The program segments the images while reducing noise and excludes, measures, and globally compares cells from multiple images loaded from one folder. It was validated against manual measurements of the same cell populations in ImageJ and there was no statistically significant difference in cardiomyocyte length and area between the code and ImageJ.
Outputs include mean length, width, and area of all measured cells and a structure composed of individual tables for every input image that include dimensions for all appropriate cells from the input image.
This program allows for batch analysis, eliminates operator bias to increase accuracy, allows for rapid and robust analysis of large datasets and like other computational approaches it can be integrated with other data analysis tools.
