Single Phase PWM Rectifier with Unity Power Factor
Summary (140 characters)
Single phase full bridge PWM rectifier achieving near unity power factor and regulated DC output using carrier based switching.
Description
This model implements a single-phase full-bridge PWM rectifier for AC to DC conversion with improved input power factor.
The AC source is connected through an input inductor to shape the line current. Voltage and current measurements are included for waveform observation and performance evaluation.
The converter uses four controlled switches arranged in a full-bridge configuration. Gating pulses are generated using sinusoidal reference signals compared with a high-frequency carrier waveform.
A DC-link capacitor filters the rectified output to produce a smooth DC voltage across the load. The modulation index controls the output voltage level and input current profile.
By properly selecting the modulation signal in phase with the input voltage, the rectifier achieves near unity power factor and reduced harmonic distortion.
Key features:
- Single-phase full-bridge topology
- Carrier-based PWM generation
- Input current shaping
- Near unity power factor
- DC-link capacitor filtering
- Harmonic reduction capability
