📖 Description
This project implements a robust image error concealment system designed for reliable transmission of high-definition images over wireless channels. Compressed images are highly sensitive to packet and block losses, which significantly degrade visual quality. To overcome this, the proposed method embeds a copy of the image within itself before transmission.
The system combines:
- LSB-based data hiding (Spatial domain) for simple and fast recovery
- Wavelet-based embedding (Frequency domain using DWT) for improved robustness
- Hybrid LSB + DWT approach for enhanced PSNR and consistent reconstruction performance
At the receiver, the embedded information is extracted to reconstruct lost blocks without retransmission. Post-processing techniques such as morphological filtering, median filtering, and high-boost sharpening are applied to reduce distortion while preserving edge details.
Experimental results demonstrate improved PSNR and lower MSE compared to conventional error concealment techniques, making this approach suitable for wireless multimedia communication systems.
