Aerodynamics Performance and Stability Analysis Tool (APS Tool) – Version 1.0
The Aerodynamics Performance and Stability Analysis (APS) Tool is a MATLAB App developed for the preliminary design and analysis of propeller-driven fixed-wing aircraft. This application enables users to perform aerodynamic performance calculations and basic static stability analysis using commonly accepted engineering assumptions suitable for conceptual aircraft design.
Features
  • Aerodynamic performance analysis
  • Drag polar estimation
  • Lift and drag calculations
  • Power and thrust analysis
  • Performance variation with flight velocity
  • Basic longitudinal and lateral static stability analysis
  • User-friendly graphical interface built using MATLAB App Designer
Assumptions
The calculations are based on simplified aerodynamic models and standard assumptions typically used during the conceptual design phase. Therefore, the results should be considered as preliminary estimates and not as replacements for high-fidelity aerodynamic simulations or experimental validation.
Version Information
Version 1.0 is the initial release and includes the core performance analysis tools along with basic static stability analysis. Future versions will introduce additional capabilities such as dynamic stability analysis, aircraft sizing, constraint analysis, propulsion selection, control surface sizing, and enhanced visualization.
This tool is intended for aerospace engineering students, researchers, and aircraft designers who require a quick and intuitive platform for preliminary performance and stability evaluation of propeller-driven fixed-wing aircraft.
