Process-Driven MBSE Project Framework

Process-Driven MBSE Project Framework is a Project App that embeds your MBSE process and helps users navigate required tools and assessments

Overview
This repository provides a process-driven Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) project framework for MATLAB® and Simulink®, designed to add rigor, structure, and visibility to large-scale system development projects.
The framework is particularly well suited for systems engineers working in alignment with standards such as ARP 4754A and ARP 4761, but it is intentionally extensible to any engineering organization that needs to define, execute, and assess a disciplined development process.
It extends MATLAB Projects with an integrated project app, model browser, and process execution layer, enabling teams to organize heterogeneous engineering artifacts, define and visualize their development process, and perform project-level analysis across the entire project—not just individual files.
What Does This Framework Do?
The framework helps teams manage complex MBSE projects by:
  • Providing a project-level view of all engineering artifacts, including:
  • Requirements
  • Architectures
  • Models
  • Data
  • Tests
  • Analyses
  • Profiles
  • And other related artifacts(independent of file type)
  • Allowing users to define and execute a systems engineering process, aligned with standards such as ARP 4754A / ARP 4761, using Process Advisor
  • Enabling navigation, traceability, and usage analysis across model elements and project artifacts
  • Supporting what-if impact analysis to understand the downstream effects of proposed changes
  • Performing project-level consistency and completeness checks to improve model quality and process adherence
Rather than enforcing a fixed workflow, the framework guides and visualizes process execution, making engineering intent, dependencies, and impacts explicit and easier to manage as projects scale.
What Is Included?
This repository includes:
  • A MATLAB Project App that serves as the central entry point for process-driven MBSE projects
  • A Model Browser for:
  • Exploring project artifacts
  • Inspecting item usage
  • Navigating dependencies
  • Opening source elements
  • Support for artifact classification, labeling, filtering, and viewpoints, enabling users to tailor views to their process and organizational needs
  • A process model that can be used as-is or adapted to represent an organization’s own systems engineering process
  • Integration between the project app and process execution, allowing tasks to:
  • Launch tools
  • Create artifacts
  • Run automated checksas part of a defined process
How to use it
To launch the app simply run this command on MATLAB command window
>> frameworks.launch
