3D Kaplan & Deriaz Hydro Turbine Designer is an interactive MATLAB App Designer application developed for the parametric design, geometric modeling, and hydrodynamic analysis of axial (Kaplan) and diagonal (Deriaz) hydraulic turbines.
Key Features:
• Automated geometric reconstruction and 3D surface rendering of runner blades.
• Advanced fluid dynamics calculations: rotational speed, volumetric/hydraulic efficiencies, solidity, and chord distributions.
• Flexible interpolation schemes (Cubic / Spline / Linear) for streamlined mesh generation.
• Interactive 3D visualization with custom colormaps and high-clarity rendering.
• Direct export of generated 3D blade geometry to STL format for CAD/CAM integration and 3D printing.
Developed as part of a Master's Thesis (TFM) at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M).
