This is a class definition file for working with a MP-285 micromanipulator from Sutter Instruments. The MP-285 uses serial port communication for computer control, and this class implements the basic functions for using the device, including commanding stage position, querying stage position, setting movement velocity, etc. Details and examples are given in the help file. A sample application is included.
If you are using a computer without a serial port, you will need a USB-to-serial adaptor.
This was developed using a Mac with a USB-to-serial adaptor, but it should work on all platforms.
Do you change any parameters of MP-285? I tried to perform a basic Input/Output test by sending ASCII strings to the control unit, and the screen on MP-285 really receieve them which shows that the Serial-to-USB-adapter does work. However, when I try to use the shipped controlling software, the motor won't work. Do you know the reason?
v1.1 Added sample application. Typo fixes in help file.
