QNX Target Support Package for Embedded Coder
QNX ( is a Unix-like real-time operating system, aimed primarily at the embedded systems market.

Simulink ( is a leading environment for multidomain simulation and Model-Based Design.

Embedded Coder ( allows you to generate C code and deploy your algorithms to target hardware.

This Embedded Coder Target Support Package was tested on Beagleboard xM running QNX 6.5.1.
It should also work with other QNX targets, provided they have a BSP. Minimal changes to Template Makefile are required in this case to reflect other compiler flags.

Please refer to this repository: for the latest development version. Your input and feedback is highly appreciated!

1) Run qnx_setup.m.

2) For Windows hosts, you need to download plink.exe from and put it into "qnx" directory.
This utility is used to start the binary automatically on target.

**What this package already has:**

Standalong execution driven by POSIX timers (multirate/multitasking)
External Mode support
Automatic download to target using FTP and start via TELNET

**What this package would like to have:**

Hi Mikhail,

Is this support package allow us to run Processor-In-Loop?

best Regards,

Hi Mikhail.

When I clicked Connect to Target in Simulink menu. The diagnostic viewer reports this error below:
Error occurred while executing External Mode MEX-file 'ext_comm':

Would you help me to fix this?

Hi Michael,

To activate C++ compiler, line 12 of qnxtools.mak should read:
DEFAULT_OPT_OPTS = -lang-c++

For more details, see here:

Thank you Mikhail,

Your package helped a lot, however what changes in the template make file do I have to make to support C++ like the Package for VxWorks?

Martin, i hadn't tried this package with R2013b before.

However, now i have tried it and made some changes for it to work with R2013b.

It turns out that it didn't work with R2013b out of the box. I believe you did some changes for it to work, which might lead to crashes.

Anyway, I don't experience any crashes with R2013b.

You can try the latest version from Github repo here:

Good work, Mikhail!

Only one thing annoys: My Matlab/SL 2013b always crashes when the execution of the generated code on the QNX target is stopped by pressing the stop button!
