Network representation of complex systems, which allows for the analysis of their constituents as important parts of a whole, has led to the development of network science and to the widespread application of its tools.
In order to better understand the processes that lead to the presence of characteristics common to several real world systems, like the network of interactions between proteins or genes within the cell, several network formation models have been proposed.
CNM is a fast, easy-to-use and well-documented Matlab toolbox for the construction of artificial complex networks based on such models. Its use offers the possibility to test the generality of a hypothesis in different configurations, which can lead to important discoveries in the fields where the use of networks is becoming crucial.
