Copy the contents of the zip file into the following folder depending on your OS version:
for x86 "C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2013a\bin\win32\mbuildopts"
or for x64 "C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2013a\bin\win64\mbuildopts"
Then run 'mex -setup' in MATLAB command window

WARNING: please put them in the MEXOPTS folder rather than MBUILDOPTS folder! I think the authors just made a small mistake :)
This really helped me - after I made one correction to the instructions in the Description section. The files must be copied to the mexopts folder, not the mbuildopts folder for "mex -setup" to acknowledge them.
