Two functions for Antarctic Mapping Tools: modismoa plots a MODIS Mosaic of Antarctica image using Matlab's Mapping Toolbox and modismoaps does the same thing but does NOT require any special toolbox licenses.

I downloaded the data you provided in Functions section and ran modismoa_install once more. Although after download of 2009 data I got an error (Error using fread. Invalid file identifier. Use fopen to generate a valid file identifier.) in string moa750_r1_hp1=fread(fid,[8056,6964],'uint16'), I guess it is fine for me since I don't need more than 2009 data...
Added live scripts
Added modismoaps to get around dependency on Matlab's Mapping Toolbox.
Included freezeColors as a subfunction.
Changed pcolorm plotting to geoshow because geoshow is faster and does not shift data by half a pixel. Also added an example to the example file.
Fixed a typo in the example file.
Updated to include MOA2009 and options for display contrast. Behavior change: by default, 2009 data are now plotted unless 2004 is specified.
The modismoa function is now a plugin for the Antarctic Mapping Tools package.
