The toolbox uses nitrate May load (tons N) as input and calculates a time series forecast of the total hypoxic area as well as a spatially-resolved forecast of the location of hypoxia from June to October. For details on the methodology, please refer to Laurent & Fennel (2019): Time-evolving, spatially explicit forecasts of the northern Gulf of Mexico hypoxic zone, published in Environmental Science & Technology and available at http://dx.doi.org/10.1021/acs.est.9b05790
