MATLAB with Python
Overview
This webinar provides a foundation for bi-directional interactions between Python and MATLAB. We walk through the technical details from data transfer, including explicit and implicit casting, to the pros and cons of in-process verses out of process operations. The presentation is illustrated through the development of an application with both Python and MATLAB components. Note: this is a live webinar run by Australian based engineers.
Highlights
- Learn how to call Python from MATLAB and vice versa
- Explore the details of data type casting and equivalency between the software stacks
- See this in practice through an example application with both Python and MATLAB components
About the Presenter
Dr. Emmanuel Blanchard is a Senior Education Customer Success Engineer at MathWorks, having joined the company as a training engineer in 2014. He later served as an Application Engineer from 2018 to 2024, with a primary focus on data analytics. He has taught various MATLAB courses and specialized topics, including machine learning, statistics, optimization, image processing, and parallel computing. Before joining MathWorks, he was a Lecturer in Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Wollongong. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech and has experience as a Systems/Controls Engineer at Cummins Engine Company, as well as a research assistant in several research institutions in California and Virginia.
Dr Peter Brady is a Principal Application Engineer with a background in numerical simulation, big data analysis and high-performance computing. Prior to joining MathWorks he worked at several civil and defence contractors undertaking detailed computational fluid dynamics investigations. At MathWorks Australia Peter supports the areas of: maths and statistics, machine and deep learning as well as providing an Australian based contact MathWorks’ autonomous customers to access global resources. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and PhD in mechanical engineering. Peter is a member of Engineers Australia and is a Chartered Practicing Engineer in the fields of Civil and Mechanical Engineering as well as Engineering Leadership and Management.
