R2026bPulse Waveforms
The rectangular waveform phased.RectangularWaveform is the simplest waveform having a constant amplitude over the pulse duration. Its range resolution and detection capability are inversely coupled.
The linear FM phased.LinearFMWaveform (LFM) waveform has a frequency that sweeps linearly across the pulse or chip duration. The waveform enables pulse compression to decouple range resolution from detection capability.
The nonlinear FM phased.NonlinearFMWaveform waveform has a frequency that varies nonlinearly over the duration pulse, allowing tailored sidelobe suppression with no windowing losses.
The custom FM phased.CustomFMWaveform waveform allows a user-defined frequency modulation profile for application-specific pulse compression designs.
The stepped FM phased.SteppedFMWaveform waveform transmits a sequence of pulses at incrementally increasing frequencies. It allows you to synthesize a wider effective bandwidth to improve range resolution.
The phase-coded phased.PhaseCodedWaveform waveform modulates the phase of the pulse to follow a code sequence such as Barker, Frank, or Zadoff-Chu. The pulse provides good range resolution and low sidelobes.
Continuous Waveforms
The FMCW phased.FMCWWaveform waveform is a frequency-modulated continuous wave transmitted continuously with a linear frequency sweep. It is commonly used in automotive radar for accurate range estimation.
The MFSK phased.MFSKWaveform waveform is a multiple frequency-shift keying continuous waveform. The waveform alternates between multiple frequency sweeps to simultaneously estimate range and speed.
