I would like to know if there is an autosave feature on the MATLAB Editor and Live Editor that automatically saves open files (M, MLX) every few minutes.

The MATLAB Editor and Live Editor contain an autosave feature that is on by default. Autosave periodically saves open files with unsaved edits to a backup file that ends with an .asv extension. By default, an autosave file is located in the same directory as its related source file.
You can access the autosave features through the preferences dialog:
MATLAB Home > Preferences > Editor/Debugger > Backup Files
Refer to the Save and Back Up Code Documentation for more context and further instructions.
