Issues with parallel computing on the Mac

I developed and deployed an application using Matlab on Windows that included a parallel computing component that spawned a matlabpool. It works excellently deployed on Windows, but when I compile for Mac it crashes.
Anybody had a similar experience with issues with parallel computing on the Mac?
