What's the Java upgrade time line?

MATLAB R2021b is shipped with Java 1.8 (also called 8). Today, we're at Java 17, so I expect it's about time to upgrade.
I can't seem to find any information on when The MathWorks plan to upgrade its Java version.
This is relevant when you're using MATLAB's external Java interface to work with recent Java libraries.

Hey Ralph, I'd love to know it. What I can tell you is that from R2023a it supports Java 11. Considering the changes should be milder between 11 and 17, we can only hope it won't take that long to do that upgrade...
