How to connect matlab with vb.net ?

The front end of my project is in vb.net and back end is in matlab. I want to know how to connect the two of them. Also is it possible to keep playing the video in vb.net while matlab is proceesing another part of the same video. Which are the other media players which i can use with matlab?
